Rob Gillis is a decades-long member of the Chicago music industry. He has held management positions in nearly every aspect of the business providing him a rare perspective. Currently he runs Rob The Record Guy Management & Publicity following a long tenure with Waterdog Music and is a past president of EARS, the Engineering And Recording Society Of Chicago. With his work for Waterdog he oversaw the publishing and film placement for the works of Ralph Covert and other artists on label. Most recently he was involved the successful pilot “Time Machine Guitar” for American Public Television.His past management positions include Triad Magazine & Radio; the Dharma, Mobile Fidelity, and Waterdog record labels; the 2nd Hand Tunes and Dog Ear retail chains, audiophile dealer Music Direct, mastering studio Alien Soundscapes. He has also produced successful concerts, written articles, been profiled nationally on television and film, appeared dozens of times as a radio guest, served as a historical music consultant for books and album reissues, served on the boards of other arts and music organizations, and continue to act as a consultant to indie musicians and other music management professionals. He is an ASCAP songwriter with one film credit and serves on various committees for NARAS. He re-writes many contracts for film, especially those featuring his wife, Suzy Brack.
